The current system, implemented in 2001, has been based on the original 1993 ANZSIC coding, and this change will bring NSW closer to the rest of Australia and International standards. Along with this change will be a ‘harmonisation initiative’ with WorkSafe Victoria, and since QLD have recently moved to a new classification system, also based on 2006 ANZSIC, this change should enable much better industry comparison between these jurisdictions.
